Fireside Chat with Ron Croen, former co-founder and CEO of Nuance Communications

Ron is an entrepreneur, leader and business advisor. Ron was founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Nuance Communications.

He advises CEO's as a CEO buddy on operations, strategy, leadership and management. His experience spans various sectors in information and communications technology such as artificial intelligence, digital media, big data, enterprise software and SaaS. He has been involved with companies across the life-cycle, from start-up, to very early stage angel and venture funded growth businesses, to medium and large public companies.

Nuance is the global leader in voice automation technology and applications, providing software and solutions based on the technologies of speech recognition, speech synthesis and speaker verification.

Ron earned a J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a B.A. from Tufts University.

Mark Kesslen (E86), Chair, Intellectual Property section of Tech Group at Lowenstein Sandler Mark is heavily involved in IP issues relating to software, digital and social media, big data, and fintech. He continues to manage and assess a wide range of process, software and business method patents, and provides strategic advice on issues ranging from litigation assessment to patent scope, open source, trademarks, privacy and ownership risks.

Elizabeth Barnhard (E08P), Of Counsel, Leason Ellis Elizabeth is a senior patent attorney specializing in pharmaceutical and biotechnology matters. During her fifteen-year career at Wyeth/Pfizer, she led multi-disciplinary patent teams servicing several therapeutic and research areas. She is intimately familiar with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office policies and procedures and their impacts on clients
